The overall<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0water requirement of Islamabad (both rural and urban) is around 250 million\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">gallons<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0daily (<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">mgd<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">) with the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">city<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> requirement\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">said to be 120\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">mgd<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Presiding over a meeting on the water issue, CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa directed the concerned department for \u201cimmediate work on Shahdara, Tarbela, Chiniot, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0Khanpur dams so that the water problem can be solved\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">permanently<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to CDA, t<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">he Chiniot <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dam<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> will be constructed in the\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">catchment<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> area of Simly Dam while the\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Shahdara<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dam<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> will be set up on the\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Shahdara<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0stream.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>READ MORE:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/islamabad\/cda-increases-water-supply-by-six-million-gallons\/\">CDA to increase water supply by six million gallons in Islamabad<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Moreover, the CDA press release said that instructions had also been issued to start work on <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Khanpur<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Dam and Ghazi Brotha project. CDA and Rawalpindi Cantonment Board have been receiving water from the\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Khanpur<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0Dam through\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Khanpur<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">canal<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">However, during the\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">meeting,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0it was informed that around\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">40%<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> of water\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">is<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> being theft before reaching Islamabad\u2019s Sangjani\u00a0water works.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cThe CDA chairman expressed<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> his anger over the water theft<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> from Khanpur Dam to Sangjani Plant Canal.
