ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif has announced a public holiday on May 28 in all private and government offices and educational institutions on the occasion of Takbir Day, here on Monday.<\/p>\n

As per the issued notification, all public and private institutions, including schools, will remain closed on Tuesday, May 28.<\/p>\n

Pakistan conducted nuclear tests on May 28, 1998, and the Asian nation observed it as Takbir Day to acknowledge the country’s invincible defense capabilities and ensure regional stability through balance of power.<\/p>\n

The nuclear tests made Pakistan the seventh nuclear power in the world and the first Muslim state to have nuclear weapons in its defense stockpile.<\/p>\n

Despite external pressure, the then Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s bold decision to conduct the test ensured strategic balance in the region.<\/p>\n
