{"id":41210,"date":"2024-07-01T14:10:26","date_gmt":"2024-07-01T09:10:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=41210"},"modified":"2024-07-01T14:10:26","modified_gmt":"2024-07-01T09:10:26","slug":"christian-young-man-sentenced-to-death-for-inciting-jaranwala-riots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/christian-young-man-sentenced-to-death-for-inciting-jaranwala-riots\/","title":{"rendered":"Christian young man sentenced to death for \u2018inciting\u2019 Jaranwala riots"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAHIWAL: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has sentenced the Christian young man to death for allegedly circulating a social media post that led to <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/outrage-as-churches-christian-houses-burnt-over-blasphemy-allegations-in-jaranwala\/\">riots in Jaranwala<\/a>\u00a0in August last year.<\/p>\n<p>Along with the death sentence, the Christian youth was also awarded 22 years in prison and a fine of Rs 1 million.<\/p>\n<p>The judgment stated that the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/totally-intolerable-coas-says-no-space-for-incidents-like-jaranwala-churches-attack\/\">Christian youth<\/a> has been sentenced to death and fined Rs500,000 under Section 295(C), 10 years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 295(A), seven years under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, and five years imprisonment plus a Rs500,000 fine under 7(1)(G)-ATA.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Sahiwal ATC Special Judge Ziaullah Khan anno\u00ad\u00adunced the verdict in the case regarding the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/swat-incident-police-arrest-27-suspects-involved-in-mob-lynching\/\">mob violence<\/a> and riots in Jaranwala after the allegation of Quran desecration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A mob enraged set on fire Dozens of Christian homes and around 20 churches in Jaranwala tehsil of Faisalabad over blasphemy allegations last year.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Punjab police, over 135 miscreants had been booked last year for vandalism in the minority community.
