{"id":41481,"date":"2024-07-04T12:16:15","date_gmt":"2024-07-04T07:16:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=41481"},"modified":"2024-07-04T12:30:06","modified_gmt":"2024-07-04T07:30:06","slug":"petrol-dealers-set-to-go-on-strike-from-tomorrow-july-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/petrol-dealers-set-to-go-on-strike-from-tomorrow-july-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Petrol dealers set to go on strike from tomorrow (July 5)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">ISLAMABAD: The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/petrol-diesel-likely-to-be-unavailable-on-this-date-in-pakistan\/\">Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association<\/a> (PPDA) has announced a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/petroleum-dealers-threaten-to-shut-down-petrol-pumps-on-july-5\/\">nationwide strike<\/a> of petrol stations on July 5 (Friday) after its talks with provincial and federal governments failed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">13,000 petrol stations would be closed nationwide from July 5 at 6 am<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> onward, the PPDA chairman said, adding that the strike could continue over the following days unless demands were met and notified.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Petroleum dealers <\/span>expressed concerns over the 0.5 percent advance turnover tax included in the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/president-zardari-gives-assent-to-tax-heavy-finance-bill-2024\/\">Finance Bill 2024-25<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>PPDA chairman Abdul Sami Khan said that the government asked us to call off the strike and promised to resolve the issue but <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">we cannot postpone the strike on mere assurances<\/span>, adding that he had contacted almost every stake in the government.<\/p>\n<p>While talking to a local publication, <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Abdul Sami added that he met the finance minister, chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority chief, petroleum secretary, and representatives of the oil marketing companies\u2019 advisory council, but dealers\u2019 complaints remained unaddressed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the petroleum dealers&#8217; representative said, there <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">would be no more talks with the government till the \u2018unfair\u2019 turnover tax was withdrawn. &#8220;Double taxation was not only cruel but unconstitutional as well.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The dealers are protesting against the imposition of turnover tax in the recent federal budget.
