{"id":41485,"date":"2024-07-04T13:33:49","date_gmt":"2024-07-04T08:33:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=41485"},"modified":"2024-07-04T13:33:49","modified_gmt":"2024-07-04T08:33:49","slug":"federal-cabinet-approves-rs-5-72-unit-increase-in-electricity-tariff-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/federal-cabinet-approves-rs-5-72-unit-increase-in-electricity-tariff-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Federal cabinet approves Rs 5.72\/unit increase in electricity tariff again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet approved the hike of Rs5.72 per unit in the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/nepra-to-increase-electricity-price-by-five-rupees-per-unit\/\">basic electricity tariff<\/a> on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Power Division sources,\u00a0<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the federal cabinet<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> approved the increase through a circulation summary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Sources said that the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/nepra-imposes-new-fixed-charges-in-electricity-bills-from-july-2024\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA)<\/span><\/a> had sent the summary to increase the basic electricity tariff by Rs 5.72 per unit to the government.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The decision will <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">be sent<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> to the Nepra for <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pmln-effectively-responds-to-power-tariff-pressures-managing-economic-challenges\/\">uniform tariff implementation<\/a>, sources said. The <\/span>increase in the basic power tariff was made for the Fiscal Year 2024-25 and will take effect from July 1, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The average basic power tariff has been increased from Rs.29.78 to Rs.35.50 per unit.\u00a0 The decision of the federal cabinet will be sent to NEPRA for uniform tariff <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">implementation<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Upon the regulatory authority&#8217;s approval, the federal government will issue a necessary tariff hike notification.<\/p>\n<p>Sources said that the Shehbaz-led government is required to hike tariffs by July 10 as part of the IMF\u2019s conditions.
