{"id":42471,"date":"2024-07-16T15:26:21","date_gmt":"2024-07-16T10:26:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=42471"},"modified":"2024-07-16T15:26:21","modified_gmt":"2024-07-16T10:26:21","slug":"fsc-pre-medical-students-can-now-apply-for-engineering-degree-in-pakistan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/education\/fsc-pre-medical-students-can-now-apply-for-engineering-degree-in-pakistan\/","title":{"rendered":"FSc pre-medical students can now apply for Engineering degree in Pakistan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: In a major policy change, students with <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/lahore\/roof-collapse-at-king-edward-medical-university-hostel-damages-dozens-of-vehicles\/\">FSc pre-medical<\/a> certification will be able to take admission to <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/latest-news\/hec-announces-foreign-scholarship-for-session-2022-23\/\">engineering <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">programme<\/span><\/a> as the subject is facing a downward trend.<\/p>\n<p>The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the regulatory body of engineering, has allowed\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">pre-medical students to take admission in BS engineering after completing an eight-week condensed programme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to the PEC, an <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">eight-week condensed programme will<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> compensate students with deficient courses like mathematics, before<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> becoming eligible for admission to the engineering programme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">PEC Registrar Dr Nasir Mahmood Khan said, &#8220;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Until a few years ago, our engineering universities were producing around 30,000 engineers annually. But, gradually, the field is facing a decline. So much so that there is a decline of around 10,000 admissions in one year whereas some universities have even shut down their engineering department due to a lack of students.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In a letter addressed to the HEC,\u00a0<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">PEC stated that the PEC governing body in its 49th meeting on June 28 decided to allow the students having Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) intermediate pre-medical qualification for admission in all engineering programmes as per the PEC Regulations for Engineering Education in Pakistan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to the Pakistan Engineering Council, t<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">he university conducting an eight-week programme would be responsible for developing the condensed programme and ensuring the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment.
