{"id":42474,"date":"2024-07-16T16:06:50","date_gmt":"2024-07-16T11:06:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=42474"},"modified":"2024-07-16T16:07:45","modified_gmt":"2024-07-16T11:07:45","slug":"justice-r-mushir-alam-declines-sc-ad-hoc-judge-offer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/justice-r-mushir-alam-declines-sc-ad-hoc-judge-offer\/","title":{"rendered":"Justice (r) Mushir Alam declines SC ad hoc judge offer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">ISLAMABAD: Former Supreme Court Justice Mushir Alam has declined to accept his nomination for the position as an <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/three-high-court-judges-sworn-in-as-supreme-court-judges\/\">ad-hoc judge<\/a> of the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter written to Chief Justice and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/ex-cjp-tassaduq-jillani-rescues-himself-to-head-commission-probing-ihc-judges-allegations\/\">Chairman Judicial Commission<\/a> Justice Qazi Faez Isa, former judge Mushir Alam informed that he is unable to accept this esteemed appointment of an ad-hoc judge of the top court.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa called a meeting of the Judicial Commission on July 19 to discuss the nominations of four individuals for ad-hoc judges for three years.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Justice had initially nominated Justice (r) Mushir Alam, Justice (r) Maqbool Baqir, Justice (r) Mazhar Alam, and Justice (r) Sardar Tariq Masood for the ad-hoc judge positions.<\/p>\n<p>As per the SC notification, the Appointment of ad hoc judges is aimed at ensuring more cases are decided than instituted and to reduce, and hopefully eliminate the cases that are pending adjudication for several years.<\/p>\n<div class=\"story__content overflow-hidden text-4 leading-tight text-black \" dir=\"auto\">\n<p><iframe class=\"scribd_iframe_embed\" tabindex=\"0\" title=\"Regret Ad Hoc Judge SC\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/embeds\/750872291\/content?start_page=1&amp;view_mode=scroll&amp;access_key=key-ztkt1iIbbVg1ia1RmpK2\" width=\"100%\" height=\"600\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" data-auto-height=\"true\" data-aspect-ratio=\"0.7080062794348508\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px auto 6px auto; font-family: Helvetica,Arial,Sans-serif; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal; -x-system-font: none; display: block;\"><a style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" title=\"View Regret Ad Hoc Judge SC on Scribd\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/750872291\/Regret-Ad-Hoc-Judge-SC#from_embed\">Regret Ad Hoc Judge SC<\/a> by <a style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" title=\"View geowebdesk's profile on Scribd\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/user\/721693265\/geowebdesk#from_embed\">geowebdesk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0In his letter to the CJP, Justice (retd) Alam mentioned his involvement in charitable activities after being laid off as a Sindh High Court judge.<\/p>\n<p>He wrote, &#8220;<span class=\"a\">I formed Vision Trust and established<\/span><span class=\"a\"> an eye hospital in Karachi for visually impaired persons. Later, I was reinstated<\/span><span class=\"a\"> under a judgment of the Supreme Court, as a Judge of the Sindh High Court<\/span><span class=\"a\"> with dignity and honor. I had the honor to serve as Chief Justice of the said court<\/span><span class=\"a\"> and was later elevated to the Supreme Court of Pakistan. I enjoyed a long cherished<\/span><span class=\"a\">\u00a0judicial career and served on the bench for more than 22 years to the best of\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"a\">my abilities.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Thank you again for considering me for the appointment as ad-hoc Judge of the Supreme Court.
