{"id":42550,"date":"2024-07-18T15:07:49","date_gmt":"2024-07-18T10:07:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=42550"},"modified":"2024-07-18T15:07:49","modified_gmt":"2024-07-18T10:07:49","slug":"passenger-train-fares-increased-again-amid-fuel-price-hike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/passenger-train-fares-increased-again-amid-fuel-price-hike\/","title":{"rendered":"Passenger train fares increased again amid fuel price hike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has again announced an increase in all <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/pakistan-railways-reduces-train-fares-by-over-50\/\">passenger train fares<\/a> from Friday, July 19, due to the rising petroleum product prices.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to the Railways Department notification, the fares for all passenger train services, including economy, AC standard, AC business, and AC <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">parlour<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> classes, have been raised by 1%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, it stated that the fare increase<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> applies to mail, express, and intercity passenger trains and trains operating under public-private partnerships. <\/span>The Railways Department has directed all divisional superintendents to update the fare table accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Pakistan Railways <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">hiked train fares just weeks after the national railway operator announced a 3% increase in freight rates across the board, effective <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">from<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> July 3.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>However,<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Pakistan Railways did not provide any relief to passengers when fuel prices decreased previously<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0but<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> has promptly implemented the latest fare increase following the recent rise in petroleum product prices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Pakistan Railways spokesperson said that the department earned a record <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Rs 88 billion in the outgoing fiscal year 2023-24, exceeding its original target of Rs 73 billion.<\/span>\u201cThis is the record revenue generation by the railways in its history,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has again announced an increase in all passenger train fares from Friday, July 19, due to the rising petroleum product prices.
