{"id":42801,"date":"2024-07-23T14:02:05","date_gmt":"2024-07-23T09:02:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=42801"},"modified":"2024-07-23T14:02:05","modified_gmt":"2024-07-23T09:02:05","slug":"ppp-files-review-petition-in-supreme-court-against-reserved-seats-ruling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/ppp-files-review-petition-in-supreme-court-against-reserved-seats-ruling\/","title":{"rendered":"PPP files review petition in Supreme Court against reserved seats ruling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Following the PML-N, the ruling coalition partner Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has filed a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/ecp-decides-to-implement-supreme-courts-reserved-seats-verdict\/\">review petition<\/a> in the Supreme Court against the apex court&#8217;s July 12 verdict on <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/ecp-announces-stance-on-scs-ruling-on-sic-reserved-seats\/\">reserved seats<\/a> allotted to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).<\/p>\n<p>Lawyer Farooq H Naek filed the review petition on his party\u2019s behalf seeking the top court to overturn\u00a0its verdict regarding reserved seats for women and minorities.<\/p>\n<p>On July 12, the Supreme Court nullified the Peshawar High Court\u2019s (PHC) ruling to deny the main opposition party, the <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council its\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">reserved seats in parliament. The apex court in its verdict declared<\/span> Imran Khan\u2019s party eligible for the allocation of seats reserved for women and minorities.<\/p>\n<p>Supreme Court&#8217;s Practice and Procedure Committee has scheduled the hearing of the review petition filed by PML-N after the September holidays.
