{"id":42991,"date":"2024-07-25T18:22:42","date_gmt":"2024-07-25T13:22:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=42991"},"modified":"2024-07-25T18:22:42","modified_gmt":"2024-07-25T13:22:42","slug":"supreme-court-fixes-arshad-sharif-suo-moto-case-on-july-29","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/supreme-court-fixes-arshad-sharif-suo-moto-case-on-july-29\/","title":{"rendered":"Supreme Court fixes Arshad Sharif suo moto case on July 29"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has fixed the hearing of the suo moto case regarding the investigation into the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/senior-journalist-arshad-sharif-shot-dead-in-mistaken-identity-case-kenyan-media\/\">killing of journalist Arshad Sharif<\/a> in Kenya.<\/p>\n<p>A three-member bench led by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, comprising Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan will hear the case on July 29.<\/p>\n<p>According to the details, the apex court has issued notices to the attorney general, FIA director general, Interior Secretary, and IG Islamabad, among others.<\/p>\n<p>On July 8, the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/arshad-sharif-murder-kenyan-court-orders-govt-to-pay-compensation-to-journalists-family\/\">Kajiado High Court<\/a> in Kenya ruled that police used lethal force against Pakistani journalists in 2022 and declared the shooting arbitrary, unlawful,\u00a0 and unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p>The court ordered the Kenyan government to pay 10 million Kenyan shillings (Rs21.7 million) to the family of slain Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif as compensation for the loss of life.<\/p>\n<p>The Kenyan court also directed criminal proceedings against the police officers and personnel involved in the shooting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has fixed the hearing of the suo moto case regarding the investigation into the killing of journalist Arshad Sharif in Kenya.
