{"id":43379,"date":"2024-07-30T16:29:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-30T11:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=43379"},"modified":"2024-07-30T16:29:00","modified_gmt":"2024-07-30T11:29:00","slug":"lt-col-r-akbar-hussain-convicted-for-inciting-sedition-ispr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/lt-col-r-akbar-hussain-convicted-for-inciting-sedition-ispr\/","title":{"rendered":"Lt Col (R) Akbar Hussain convicted for inciting sedition: ISPR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>RAWALPINDI: Lieutenant Colonel Akbar Hussain was convicted and sentenced through Field General Court Martial (FGCM) for the charges of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/sedition-case-registered-against-shaukat-tarin-for-sabotaging-negotiations-with-imf\/\">inciting sedition<\/a> among army personnel, the military&#8217;s media wing said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the charges were pressed under the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/adil-raja-released-on-bail-after-being-grilled-under-uk-counter-terror-laws\/\">Pakistan Army Act, 1952.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The court of competent jurisdiction adjudged Akbar Hussain \u2018guilty\u2019 of the offence charged, through due judicial process and awarded the punishment of 14 years rigorous imprisonment on May 10, 2024, it added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Furthermore, under<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the awarded sentence, the Rank of the officer has been forfeited on 26 July 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Earlier, Ex Major (Retired) Adil Farooq Raja and <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Ex-Captain<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> (Retired) Haider Raza Mehdi were also convicted and sentenced through Field General Court Martial (FGCM) under Pakistan Army Act, 1952 for the charges of inciting sedition among army personnel from discharge of duties and violation of the provisions of Official Secrets Act, 1923 related to espionage and acts prejudicial to the safety and interest of the State.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The court of competent jurisdiction had convicted and adjudged both Adil Farooq Raja and Haider Raza Mehdi on the date of 7th and 9th October 2023, through the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">due<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> judicial process, with the punishments awarded as 14 and 12 years of rigorous imprisonment respectively, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> forfeiture of the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">rank<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> of both individuals with effect from 21 November 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RAWALPINDI: Lieutenant Colonel Akbar Hussain was convicted and sentenced through Field General Court Martial (FGCM) for the charges of inciting sedition among army personnel, the military&#8217;s media wing said.
