ISLAMABAD: Former PM and founder<\/a> of one of the most powerful political parties Imran Khan<\/a> has completed one year in imprisonment today. Imran Khan was held accountable for illegally trading state-owned gifts also known as the Toshakhana<\/a> case, in which he was arrested from his residence in Lahore known as Zaman Park on August 5, 2023.<\/p>\n

The PTI members have proclaimed a nationwide protest today to showcase their support for their political leader Imran Khan. Senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser stated that August 5 marks a black day in which Khan was arrested, against which the PTI is going to stage protests across the country.<\/p>\n

He further described that the protest would demand Khan’s release.<\/p>\n

Earlier, on that day the Islamabad High Court had summoned Khan in person, but he failed to come to the hearing after which Islamabad Police arrested Imran Khan from Lahore.<\/p>\n

Khan was transferred to Attock from Lahore, where he spent one month and twenty-one days in attack jail . He later got transferred to Adiala jail in Rawalpindi, where he is still kept captive.<\/p>\n

Cases against PTI leader Imran Khan:<\/h2>\n

Toshakhana Case: Imran Khan was sentenced to three years in prison but was released after the Islamabad High Court suspended the verdict.<\/p>\n

Cypher Case: Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi were initially not arrested. Following the suspension of the Toshakhana verdict, Khan was arrested in the cypher case, but both were later acquitted.<\/p>\n

Iddat\/Nikah Case: Khan and Bushra Bibi were convicted for marrying before completing the mandatory iddat period. This conviction was later overturned by a district and sessions court.<\/p>\n

Al Qadir University Case: Khan and Bushra Bibi face allegations of receiving \u00a3190 million from Malik Riaz in exchange for land for Al Qadir University.<\/p>\n

Second Toshakhana Case: A new Toshakhana reference has been filed against Khan and Bushra Bibi following the suspension of the first case’s sentence, with ongoing investigations.<\/p>\n

May 9 Violence Cases: Khan faces multiple FIRs related to violence that occurred on May 9, 2023, after his arrest.<\/p>\n

Although Khan has been successful in receiving relief in most of the cases his release is still impossible to happen.<\/p>\n
