{"id":45067,"date":"2024-08-15T12:45:47","date_gmt":"2024-08-15T07:45:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=45067"},"modified":"2024-08-15T12:45:47","modified_gmt":"2024-08-15T07:45:47","slug":"sindh-govt-increases-salaries-of-public-sector-vcs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/education\/sindh-govt-increases-salaries-of-public-sector-vcs\/","title":{"rendered":"Sindh govt increases salaries of public sector VCs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI: The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/sindh-schools-reopen-after-prolong-summer-vacation\/\">Government of Sindh has increased the salaries of vice-chancellors (VCs)<\/a> at public universities in the province to align with the highest TTS scale.<\/p>\n<p>According to the official notification, the new <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/sindh-government-increases-minimum-wages-up-to-37000\/\">minimum salary for VCs will be Rs684,450,<\/a> representing an annual increase of approximately Rs20,000.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the \u2018vice-chancellor allowance,\u2019 set at 20% of the basic salary, will now be over Rs136,000, bringing the total monthly compensation for VCs to more than Rs820,000.<\/p>\n<p>Issued by the Department of Universities and Boards with approval from the Sindh Chief Minister, the notification ensures that this pay structure will remain in place for all VCs for the remainder of their terms.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, five new VCs were appointed just before this announcement, and those already serving in their second, third, or fourth year will also benefit significantly from this adjustment.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, on June 20, it was highlighted in an investigative report on the discrepancies and low salaries among VCs in the province. The report noted that some VCs had salaries comparable to or slightly above those of professors, while others earned between Rs1 million and Rs3 million, due to the absence of a fixed upper limit.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, a former VC reportedly earned around Rs3 million per month without necessary approvals.<\/p>\n<p>The new notification does not specify an upper limit for VCs&#8217; salaries, framing this increase as part of the &#8216;standardization\/rationalization of salaries.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>It is also relevant to note that the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/zulfikar-ali-bhutto-among-104-pakistanis-foreigners-conferred-national-awards\/\">Higher Education Commission (HEC)<\/a> in Islamabad recently approved a minimum monthly salary of Rs1 million for VCs of public universities nationwide.
