This is when the police convoy was ambushed by bandits with rockets and followed up with gunfire.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the brutal attack, about 11 policemen were martyred, and nine were injured. However, the death toll has now risen to 12.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement today, Punjab police said, the main suspect, Bashir Shar, who attacked the policemen yesterday, has been killed. &#8220;During the police operation, five of dacoit Bashir&#8217;s accomplices \u2014 Sanaullah Shar, Gada Ali, Kamlu Shar, Ramzan Shar, and Gadi \u2014 were injured.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Punjab Inspector General Dr Usman Anwar said that both Punjab and Sindh police had launched a major operation in the Katcha area, with 320 officers from Punjab joining forces with the Sindh police. &#8220;All the accused involved in the attack on the police personnel will be brought to justice,&#8221; he said in a statement on X.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: The primary culprit behind the rocket attack from bandits in Rahim Yar Khan\u2019s Machka area which martyred 12 officers has been killed, Punjab Police confirmed.
