{"id":46107,"date":"2024-08-24T18:13:58","date_gmt":"2024-08-24T13:13:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=46107"},"modified":"2024-08-24T18:13:58","modified_gmt":"2024-08-24T13:13:58","slug":"kp-govt-proposes-registration-of-non-custom-paid-vehicles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/kp-govt-proposes-registration-of-non-custom-paid-vehicles\/","title":{"rendered":"KP govt proposes registration of non-custom paid vehicles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to register <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pti-mpa-shakeel-ahmed-resigns-over-corruption-in-kp-govt\/\">non-custom paid (NCP) vehicles<\/a> in the province, aimed at enhancing tax collection, and sought approval from the federal government.<\/p>\n<p>According to the details, the Gandapur-led govt has prepared a summary seeking an amnesty scheme for 6 months to legalize over 200,000 illegal vehicles from the federal government.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Excise Department document, it has been proposed to register more than 2 lakh non-custom-paid vehicles from the merged districts and Malakand, to avoid terrorism and increase taxes.<\/p>\n<p>As per the document available with Daily Ausaf, govt has proposed to regularize the vehicles that have been profiled, while excluding stolen and tampered vehicles. The initiative can generate billions of rupees in taxes for the federal and provincial governments, govt officials said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the proposal, under the scheme, the regularized vehicle will not be sold for 5 years and customs duty and registration fees will have to be paid for regularization.<\/p>\n<h2>Proposed registration fee<\/h2>\n<p>For 800 cc vehicle, a filer will have to pay Rs.1 lakh, the non-filer will have to pay Rs.1.5 lakh, while for a vehicle above 2500 cc, filer will have to pay Rs.7 lakh and the non-filer will have to pay Rs.10 lakh.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, it has been proposed to fix the registration fee of 800 cc vehicles at 15 thousand rupees and the registration fee of 2500 cc vehicles at 1 lakh rupees.<\/p>\n<p>For 1,300cc vehicles, filers will pay PKR 250,000, and non-filers PKR 350,000 in customs duty, along with a registration fee of PKR 30,000. Vehicles up to 1,500cc will incur a customs duty of PKR 350,000 for filers and PKR 500,000 for non-filers, with a registration fee of PKR 60,000.<\/p>\n<p>For 2,000cc vehicles, filers will be charged PKR 450,000, and non-filers PKR 600,000 in customs duty, with a registration fee of PKR 80,000. For vehicles up to 2,500cc, the customs duty will be PKR 550,000 for filers and PKR 800,000 for non-filers, with a registration fee of PKR 100,000.<\/p>\n<p>Vehicles above 2,500cc will incur a customs duty of PKR 700,000 for filers and PKR 1 million for non-filers, along with a registration fee of PKR 200,000.<\/p>\n<p>The provincial government\u2019s proposal includes a detailed procedure for legalizing these illegal vehicles. &#8220;Joint facilitation centers comprising representatives from four departments\u2014police, excise, customs, and the National Bank\u2014will be established to regularize the vehicles under a one-window operation,&#8221; it added.<\/p>\n<p>In a conversation with a private media channel,\u00a0 Additional IG CTD Shaukat Abbas said that due to non-custom paid vehicles, there are difficulties in tracing cases of terrorism. &#8220;Non-custom paid vehicles are a big challenge for law enforcement agencies.
