{"id":46912,"date":"2024-08-31T14:47:36","date_gmt":"2024-08-31T09:47:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=46912"},"modified":"2024-08-31T14:48:24","modified_gmt":"2024-08-31T09:48:24","slug":"another-confirmed-case-of-mpox-virus-detected-at-peshawar-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/another-confirmed-case-of-mpox-virus-detected-at-peshawar-airport\/","title":{"rendered":"Another confirmed case of &#8216;mpox virus&#8217; detected at Peshawar airport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PESHAWAR: The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pakistan-intensifies-mpox-prevention-efforts-after-second-case-reproted\/\">mpox tally<\/a> in Pakistan has reached four with the third patient diagnosed with the virus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, health officials confirmed on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>KP Director Public Health Dr Irshad Ali Roghani confirming the development said that the virus symptoms were identified at Peshawar&#8217;s Bacha Khan airport in two suspects and both were shifted to the Police and Services Hospital (PSH) for diagnosis testing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Public Health Laboratory at Khyber Medical University (KMU) has confirmed monkeypox in the 51-year-old patient, a resident of KP&#8217;s Orakzai district,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<div>The patient is stable and is admitted to the Isolation Ward of Police Line Hospital for proper treatment of infection, he added.<\/div>\n<p>So far, out of the four mpox cases reported in the country, three have been reported in KP&#8217;s Mardan, Nowshera, and Orakzai. However, none of the cases were locally transmitted.<\/p>\n<p>After the confirmation of the first suspect, surveillance at the airports was tightened across Pakistan to prevent further cases from entering the country.<\/p>\n<p>National Coordinator for Health Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad said that an effective system of screening and surveillance system was functional at all airports.
