RAWALPINDI: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry said that a court martial inquiry<\/a> against Lt Gen (r) Faiz Hameed was based on concrete evidence, adding that Gen Faiz had violated sections of the Army Act<\/p>\n

During the press conference at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Thursday, DG ISPR said that the self-accountability mechanism is activated in the Pakistan Army, the ISPR chief said, adding that those who use the institution for their purposes will be held accountable in any case.<\/p>\n

\u201cArmy\u2019s accountability system is comprehensive and transparent an action against Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed<\/a> has been taken on concrete evidence, not on allegations,\u201d the ISPR chief said.<\/p>\n

\u201cA petition was filed against Gen (retd) Faiz in the Top City case and a high-level court inquiry was ordered in April 2024,\u201d the army\u2019s top spokesperson told reporters.<\/p>\n

Former ISI chief Faiz Hameed was arrested on August 12 and the Army initiated field general court-martial proceedings against him over allegations of land grabbing and snatching valuables from the owner of a private housing society.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Furthermore, Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry said that the Pakistan Army is a national army that has no political agenda. \u201cPakistan Army is neither against nor in favor of any political party,\u201d highlighted the Lt Gen, reiterating there will be no compromise on national security.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s presser came after the security force paced intelligence-based operations in the backdrop of recent terrorist attacks, specifically in Balochistan on August 26 that have resulted in the death of dozens of civilians and members of law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

130 operations on daily basis<\/h2>\n

During his briefing at the General Headquarters on Thursday, DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry said 32,173 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) against terrorists were carried out across the country so far in the ongoing year \u2014 of which 4,021 were carried out in the last month killing 90 Khawarij.<\/p>\n

\u201cPakistan Army and the law enforcement agencies carry out more than 130 operations on a daily basis to combat terrorism,\u201d DG ISPR said.<\/p>\n

He said, at least 193 officers and soldiers embraced martyrdom in the counter-terrorism operations during the past eight months of 2024, adding that the the entire nation paid tribute to them and their bereaved families.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe war against\u00a0Fitna al-Khawarij\u00a0<\/em>(banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan)\u00a0and terrorism will continue till the eradication of the last\u00a0khariji<\/em>\u00a0and terrorist,\u201d he vowed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The military\u2019s media wing chief asserted that there is a sense of deprivation in Balochistan, \u201cThe perpetrators of terrorism have nothing to do with Islam or Balochistan.\u201d.<\/p>\n
