{"id":48153,"date":"2024-09-11T14:12:29","date_gmt":"2024-09-11T09:12:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=48153"},"modified":"2024-09-11T14:12:29","modified_gmt":"2024-09-11T09:12:29","slug":"indian-air-force-wing-commander-accused-of-sexual-assault-by-junior-officer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/world\/indian-air-force-wing-commander-accused-of-sexual-assault-by-junior-officer\/","title":{"rendered":"Indian air force wing commander accused of sexual assault by junior officer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SIRINAGAR: A probe has been initiated by police in Indian-occupied Kashmir against an<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/sports\/pakistan-maintains-early-lead-to-register-win-against-japan-in-asian-hockey-champions-trophy\/\"> Indian Air Force<\/a> Wing Commander following allegations of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/world\/swiss-court-convicts-62-year-old-islamic-scholar-of-sexual-assault\/\">sexual assault<\/a> made by a junior female officer.<\/p>\n<p>The incident allegedly occurred during a New Year&#8217;s party on December 31, 2023, at the Air Force Station in Srinagar.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/automobile\/toyota-corolla-slashes-price-to-celebrate-first-anniversary-check-latest-price-inside\/\">First Information Report (FIR)<\/a> was filed at the Budgam police station on September 8, citing Section 376 (2) of the Indian Penal Code, which addresses rape committed by members of the armed forces.<\/p>\n<p>A senior police official confirmed that the FIR was registered in response to the female officer&#8217;s complaint.<\/p>\n<p>According to the complaint, the alleged assault occurred around 2 AM on January 1, 2024, when the Wing Commander invited the female officer into a room under the pretense of delivering a New Year&#8217;s gift.<\/p>\n<p>The complainant has criticized senior officers at the<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pti-chairman-barrister-gohar-released-from-police-custody\/\"> Air Force Station<\/a> for their inadequate response to her complaint.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, an internal committee established to investigate the matter took several months to convene and conclude its investigation, ultimately finding the evidence inconclusive due to the absence of eyewitnesses.<\/p>\n<p>The Indian Air Force has yet to release a formal statement on the matter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SIRINAGAR: A probe has been initiated by police in Indian-occupied Kashmir against an Indian Air Force Wing Commander following allegations of sexual assault made by a junior female officer.
