{"id":48577,"date":"2024-09-15T10:52:53","date_gmt":"2024-09-15T05:52:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=48577"},"modified":"2024-09-15T10:52:53","modified_gmt":"2024-09-15T05:52:53","slug":"pm-shehbaz-urges-swift-finalization-of-e-vehicle-policy-by-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/automobile\/pm-shehbaz-urges-swift-finalization-of-e-vehicle-policy-by-november\/","title":{"rendered":"PM Shehbaz urges swift finalization of E-vehicle policy by November"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/education\/imtiaz-butt-stresses-educations-role-in-national-development\/\">Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif<\/a> has set an ambitious target to finalize Pakistan&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/punjab-govt-introduces-customizable-vehicle-number-plate-scheme-details-inside\/\">Electric Vehicle (E-vehicle)<\/a> policy by November, following comprehensive consultations with provincial governments and stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>The policy aims to promote the adoption of eco-friendly electric vehicles, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and mitigating environmental pollution.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve this goal, PM Shehbaz has directed the development of a comprehensive financial plan, simplification of licensing regulations for electric <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/sindh-govt-imposes-pillion-riding-ban-in-multiple-districts-of-sindh\/\">vehicle manufacturers<\/a>, and establishment of recharging stations nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>The government plans to incentivize electric vehicle production, including offering electric motorbikes to high-achieving students from government schools, similar to the previous laptop distribution initiative.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also discussed introducing electric public transport in Islamabad, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/cda-plans-to-launch-10-new-residential-sectors-in-islamabad\/\">Capital Development Authority (CDA)<\/a> tasked with creating a detailed plan.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, 49 licenses have been issued for two- and three-wheeled electric vehicle production since 2022, with 25 factories already manufacturing these vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the first license for domestic production of four-wheeled electric vehicles was granted in September, paving the way for the first locally produced electric car to hit the market by December.<\/p>\n<p>By prioritizing electric vehicles, Pakistan aims to reduce foreign exchange losses due to petrol and diesel imports, decrease air pollution, and promote sustainable transportation.<\/p>\n<p>The government&#8217;s commitment to electric vehicle adoption is expected to drive economic growth, create jobs, and contribute to a cleaner environment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has set an ambitious target to finalize Pakistan&#8217;s Electric Vehicle (E-vehicle) policy by November, following comprehensive consultations with provincial governments and stakeholders.
