{"id":48853,"date":"2024-09-17T14:47:29","date_gmt":"2024-09-17T09:47:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=48853"},"modified":"2024-09-18T12:04:05","modified_gmt":"2024-09-18T07:04:05","slug":"pakistan-thump-korea-5-2-to-finish-third-in-asian-hockey-champions-trophy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/sports\/pakistan-thump-korea-5-2-to-finish-third-in-asian-hockey-champions-trophy\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan thump Korea 5-2 to finish &#8216;third&#8217; in Asian Hockey Champions Trophy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HULUNBUIR: Pakistan managed a podium finish after defeating Korea 5-2 in <span class=\"ILfuVd\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hgKElc\">third place playoff in the ongoing <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/sports\/india-thumbs-pakistan-2-1-to-remain-unbeaten-in-asian-hockey-champions-trophy-2024\/\">Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024 <\/a><\/span><\/span>at the Moqi Hockey Training Base in Hulunbuir, China on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>After losing a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/sports\/pakistans-asian-hockey-champions-trophy-campaign-ends-in-semi-final\/\">semi-final<\/a> against China 2-0 on penalty shoot-outs on Monday, Green Shirts tump Korea from 1-0 down to 5-2 to claim the bronze medal in the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>The game started as a tough competition for Green Shirts as they remained goalless in the first two quarters and the only goal was scored by Korean skipper Lee Jungjun in the 16th minute.<\/p>\n<p>The table turned in the third quarter with Sufyan Khan converting a penalty corner to an equalizer for Pakistan in the 38th minute.<\/p>\n<p>Sufyan Khan scored twice from penalty corners, while Hannan Shahid added two more and Roman Khan scored one. For Korea, Yang Ji-hun made it 2-2 in the 40th minute, but there was no stopping Pakistan after that.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, China booked a place in the finals of the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024 after defeating Pakistan 2-0 in a penalty shootout on Monday.
