MUZAFFARABAD: The University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (UAJK) <\/span>has restricted students from wearing t-shirts and jeans<\/a> for male and female students.<\/p>\n

According to the notification issued by AJK University, “Students and staff of the university are required to wear decent dress keeping in view the local cultural and religious values.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Female students are directed to wear a shalwar kameez with a dupatta or gown, as the varsity enforced a dress code to maintain the dignity and sanctity of the institution.<\/p>\n

The UAJK spokesperson said that the dress restriction was not to impose any rigidity or regimentation but was in \u201caccordance with the spirit of discipline, punctuality, and religious matter.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last month, the Government College University in Lahore also introduced the dress code policy allowing only modest attire and prohibiting male and female students from wearing t-shirts and jeans on campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Tight or see-through dress<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Shorts or sleeveless shirts<\/span><\/li>\n
  • T-shirts\/dress bearing language or art, which \u201cappears to be provocative or indecent and is likely to offend others\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Torn clothing<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Jogging or exercise clothing during classes<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Do not put up excessive makeup or wear expensive <\/span>jewelry<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Untidy, gaudy, <\/span>or<\/span> immodest dress in classrooms, cafeterias, <\/span>and<\/span> university offices<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Unprofessional attire in formal <\/span>programs<\/span> and interviews<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Draw unnecessary attention to themselves through their clothing, accessories, hairstyles, body markings or piercings<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Explicit dresses<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Sunglasses are permitted but must be removed when indoors<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Hair must be clean and its style should not draw unnecessary attention. Long hair must be tied back<\/span><\/li>\n
