{"id":49405,"date":"2024-09-22T16:10:56","date_gmt":"2024-09-22T11:10:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=49405"},"modified":"2024-09-22T16:10:56","modified_gmt":"2024-09-22T11:10:56","slug":"islamabads-red-zone-once-again-sealed-over-protest-call","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/islamabads-red-zone-once-again-sealed-over-protest-call\/","title":{"rendered":"Islamabad&#8217;s Red Zone once again sealed over protest call"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">ISLAMABAD: Authorities in Islamabad have once again sealed the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/red-zone-sealed-amid-utility-stores-employees-sit-in-over-uscs-closure\/\">red zone<\/a> in the federal capital following a protest called by the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/ihc-directs-fo-to-facilitate-afia-siddiquis-family-in-securing-us-visa\/\">Aafia Movement<\/a> on Sunday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The organization announced holding a protest in Islamabad today at D-Chowk at 5 pm<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> seeking the release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, promoting Islamabad police to close down the Red Zone and roads leading to D-Chowk with containers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>However, following the inaccessible D-Chowk, the Afia Movement changed the protest location to the National Press Club in Islamabad&#8217;s F-6 sector.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The district authorities have enforced heightened security measures, closing<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Jinnah Avenue from China Chowk to Express Chowk in both directions. Entry into the Red Zone has been sealed from Nadera Chowk.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In its traffic advisory, Islamabad police suggested c<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">itizens to use Margalla Road or Serena Chowk to avoid any travel problems. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Officials stressed that no permission had been granted for any protest in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dr Afia Siddiqui, a Pakistani national, is currently serving an 86-year prison sentence at the Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas, on charges including attempted murder.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Authorities in Islamabad have once again sealed the red zone in the federal capital following a protest called by the Aafia Movement on Sunday.
