ISLAMABAD: The federal government has declared three public holidays in twin cities \u2014 Islamabad and Rawalpindi \u2014 on October 14, 15, and 16 (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) in the wake of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved three holidays within the territorial limits of Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi District, a notification issued by the cabinet decision said.<\/p>\n

According to the notification, “The Prime Minister has been pleased to declare 14th, 15th, and 16th October 2024, as closed holidays to facilitate the smooth conduct of the 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the federal government approved the deployment of the army in Islamabad to ensure the safety and security ahead of the ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) later this month.<\/p>\n

The Pakistan Army has assumed security responsibilities in Islamabad following orders from the Ministry of Interior under Article 245 of the Constitution. Authorities have emphasized that no disruptive elements will be permitted to undermine peace and order in the city.<\/p>\n
