ISLAMABAD: A video circulating on social media and WhatsApp groups showing the murder of a Punjab College student<\/a> is being attributed to the recent violent student protests<\/a> across Punjab.<\/p>\n

Several social media users claimed that a student of Punjab College has been shot dead by police in recent series of violent protests over the alleged rape of a female student in Lahore’s Gulberg campus.<\/p>\n

A user named Noshi Gilani<\/em>, shared a post on X \u2014 the post crossed 237k views \u2014\u00a0 claiming that police had killed the student during recent protests.<\/p>\n

Another user, Sara Mir<\/em>, also shared a post<\/a> that crossed 196K views on X, formerly known as Twitter. She wrote that on the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, a student protester have been killed.<\/p>\n

Fact Check<\/h2>\n

As the video went viral on social media, Daily Ausaf<\/em>, checked the source and found that the incident happened on October 8 in Tehsil Alipur Chatta of Wazirabad district.<\/p>\n

Punjab police spokesperson shared an FIR<\/a>, registered at Alipur Chatta police station on the complaint of the victim’s father.<\/p>\n
