{"id":53680,"date":"2024-10-23T13:34:52","date_gmt":"2024-10-23T08:34:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=53680"},"modified":"2024-10-23T13:38:35","modified_gmt":"2024-10-23T08:38:35","slug":"islamabad-high-court-grants-bail-to-bushra-bibi-in-toshakhana-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/islamabad-high-court-grants-bail-to-bushra-bibi-in-toshakhana-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Islamabad High Court grants bail to Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Bushra Bibi, the wife of<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/uncategorized\/pti-takes-disciplinary-actions-issues-show-cause-notices-to-lawmakers\/\"> Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf<\/a> (PTI) founder Imran Khan, was granted bail by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday in the Toshakhana-II case.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb accepted her <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/life-style\/actress-nazish-jahangir-faces-fraud-charges-court-cancels-actresss-bail\/\">post-arrest bail<\/a> plea with a surety bond of Rs1 million and directed authorities to release her immediately.<\/p>\n<p>This decision comes after a special judge central had previously rejected the post-arrest bail pleas of both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the same case, which was heard by Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand at Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.<\/p>\n<p>The Toshakhana-II case is related to a fresh <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/sindh-police-nabs-woman-involved-in-honey-trap-kidnappings\/\">National Accountability Bureau<\/a> (NAB) reference, which led to the arrest of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi on July 13.<\/p>\n<p>This arrest occurred just hours after their acquittal in the Iddat case. The NAB team, headed by Deputy Director Mohsin Haroon, was arrested at Adiala Jail.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that the couple was previously sentenced to seven years in prison and fined Rs500,000 each in February after a trial court found their nikah to be fraudulent.<\/p>\n<p>However, they had filed appeals against their conviction in the Iddat case, which were accepted by the Islamabad district and sessions court.<\/p>\n<p>Bushra Bibi had moved the IHC for bail in the Toshakhana-II reference, and her plea was heard by Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb.
