{"id":54329,"date":"2024-10-30T14:15:01","date_gmt":"2024-10-30T09:15:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=54329"},"modified":"2024-10-30T14:15:01","modified_gmt":"2024-10-30T09:15:01","slug":"record-increase-in-imports-from-india-seen-despite-trade-ban","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/record-increase-in-imports-from-india-seen-despite-trade-ban\/","title":{"rendered":"Record increase in imports from India seen despite trade ban"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD (Rizwan Abbasi): The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/pakistans-exports-to-singapore-kazakhstan-seen-a-significant-increase\/\">imports<\/a> from India have seen a notable surge in the first seven months of the incumbent government.<\/p>\n<p>Although the trade with India was <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/featured\/pakistani-traders-observe-nationwide-strike-against-taxes-utility-bills\/\">suspended<\/a> in 2019, a substantial 45% increase was recorded in imports from India since September 2024.<\/p>\n<p>According to government sources, imports reached $28 million in September this year, compared to $19.3 million in the same month last year.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the trade suspension, imports from India have continued to rise for the second consecutive month. In August 2024, annual imports from India increased by 5%. Similarly, significant increases were also recorded in January, March 2024, and February, and May 2023.<\/p>\n<p>It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan suspended the trade with neighboring India after escalating tensions in 2019.
