{"id":54938,"date":"2024-11-04T16:03:56","date_gmt":"2024-11-04T11:03:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=54938"},"modified":"2024-11-04T16:03:56","modified_gmt":"2024-11-04T11:03:56","slug":"sindh-assembly-gives-nod-for-formation-of-constitutional-benches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/sindh-assembly-gives-nod-for-formation-of-constitutional-benches\/","title":{"rendered":"Sindh Assembly gives nod for formation of constitutional benches"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"vc_row_inner tdi_75  vc_row vc_inner wpb_row td-pb-row\">\n<div class=\"vc_column_inner tdi_82  wpb_column vc_column_container tdc-inner-column td-pb-span8\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"td_block_wrap tdb_single_content tdi_85 td-pb-border-top single-content td_block_template_1 td-post-content tagdiv-type\" data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_85\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p>KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly unanimously passed a resolution allowing the formation of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/parliament-submits-names-for-judicial-commission-of-pakistan-to-supreme-court\/\">constitutional benches<\/a> in the province under the recently enacted 26th <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/featured\/constitutional-amendment-bill-became-law-following-president-zardaris-assent\/\">Constitutional Amendment<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The constitutional amendments signed into law on October 21 included several provisions including the establishment of constitutional benches in the Supreme Court and high courts, with equal representation from all provinces.<\/p>\n<p>The constitutional Benches would comprise an equal number of judges from each province. The most senior judge nominated under clause (1) shall be the presiding judge of the constitutional benches in this part referred to as the presiding judge.<\/p>\n<p>The resolution tabled by\u00a0Sindh\u2019s parliamentary affairs and home department minister Zia Lanjar was passed with 123 votes, while four votes were cast against it, which came from three Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) backed and one Jamaat Islami(JI) member.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the session, Sindh Chief Minister and Leader of the House Murad Ali Shah asserted that all provinces would benefit from the recent constitutional tweaks ensuring the provision of justices and reducing the backlog of cases.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p>As per the 26th constitutional amendments, all provincial assemblies are required to pass resolutions for the formation of the constitutional benches.
