{"id":56680,"date":"2024-11-20T15:25:40","date_gmt":"2024-11-20T10:25:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=56680"},"modified":"2024-11-23T13:20:44","modified_gmt":"2024-11-23T08:20:44","slug":"every-female-applicant-to-receive-e-bike-under-punjab-cm-e-bike-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/every-female-applicant-to-receive-e-bike-under-punjab-cm-e-bike-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Every female applicant to receive e-bike under Punjab CM e-bike scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: In a ground-breaking development, the Punjab government on the directives of<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/education\/eligibility-criteria-for-cm-punjab-honhaar-scholarship-programme-revealed\/\"> Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz<\/a> has announced that every <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/education\/ibcc-introduces-new-grading-system-for-matric-intermediate-students\/\">female student<\/a> who expresses the desire will be given an electric bike as part of the government\u2019s initiatives geared towards empowering women.<\/p>\n<p>The Punjab government has scaled its <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/sindh-police-officials-to-receive-interest-free-bikes-low-cost-plots\/\">electric bike program<\/a>, increasing the number of bikes for students from 20,000 to 27,200.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Read More:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/education\/eligibility-criteria-for-cm-punjab-honhaar-scholarship-programme-revealed\/\">Eligibility criteria for CM Punjab Honhaar Scholarship Programme revealed<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The initiative aims to help students especially females from the lower socio-economic class, to have access to cheaper methods of transport. Earlier, the program was launched in March when the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/education\/punjab-may-end-saturday-holiday-in-schools\/\">Punjab cabinet<\/a> approved the provision of 20,000 e-bikes.<\/p>\n<p>However, citing high, if not overwhelming, demand, the government has revised upwards the number of bikes to 27,200 which consists of both electric and petrol bikes.<\/p>\n<p>Orphaned students will be provided with the bikes at no cost while the Bank of Punjab has given loans to 20,000 male and female students for the purchase of the bikes.<\/p>\n<p>To reduce the costs incurred by students, the down payment for the bikes has been reduced to Rs. 25,000, monthly installments have been fixed at less than Rs. 5.<\/p>\n<h2>Punjab e-bike scheme<\/h2>\n<p>To date, approximately 5000 petrol bikes and 2000 electric bikes have been handed out and the operation is still in progress. In addition, to guarantee the program\u2019s accountability, every bike is provided with two years of insurance and service.<\/p>\n<p>At present more than 15,000 students are on a waiting list for bikes and these will be given priority in the subsequent distributions.
