{"id":58581,"date":"2024-12-09T12:58:03","date_gmt":"2024-12-09T07:58:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=58581"},"modified":"2024-12-09T12:58:03","modified_gmt":"2024-12-09T07:58:03","slug":"supreme-court-rejects-govts-plea-regarding-military-courts-issue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/featured\/supreme-court-rejects-govts-plea-regarding-military-courts-issue\/","title":{"rendered":"Supreme Court rejects govt&#8217;s plea regarding military courts issue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/constitutional-bench-bins-plea-challenging-army-chiefs-tenure-extension\/\">constitutional bench<\/a> on Monday dismissed the government&#8217;s petition seeking to allow <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/imran-khan-moves-ihc-against-transfer-to-military-courts\/\">military courts<\/a> to deliver case verdicts.<\/p>\n<p>Apex court&#8217;s seven-member constitutional bench, led by Justice Aminuddin Khan, conducted the hearing of the plea requesting the court to allow military courts jurisdiction over civilian cases.<\/p>\n<p>During the hearing, Justice Musarrat Hilali remarked that giving such permission would imply recognition authority of military courts in these matters.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from that, the special bench also heard the plea filed by former chief justice Jawad S Khawaja to halt the hearing of the cases against the trial of civilians in military courts till the petition challenging the 26th Constitutional Amendment was decided.<\/p>\n<p>The court threw out the former chief justice&#8217;s petition, which was filed through senior lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan, and also slapped a fine of Rs20,000.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court&#8217;s constitutional bench on Monday dismissed the government&#8217;s petition seeking to allow military courts to deliver case verdicts.
