Further investigations into the incident are still ongoing to identify the main cause of this bizarre incident.<\/p>\n<p>An important step in the fight against suicide was taken during the PTI government&#8217;s time when President Arif Alvi signed legislation eliminating the penalty for attempted suicide.<\/p>\n<p>In the past, attempting suicide was penalized by Section 325 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which carried a maximum sentence of one year in ordinary jail, a fine, or both.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 5% of people worldwide attempt suicide at least once in their lifetime, and one person dies by suicide every 40 seconds, according to statistics.
