{"id":58905,"date":"2024-12-12T12:22:11","date_gmt":"2024-12-12T07:22:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=58905"},"modified":"2024-12-12T12:22:11","modified_gmt":"2024-12-12T07:22:11","slug":"sc-overturns-ecp-decision-reinstates-adil-bazai-as-mna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/featured\/sc-overturns-ecp-decision-reinstates-adil-bazai-as-mna\/","title":{"rendered":"SC overturns ECP decision, reinstates Adil Bazai as MNA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: In a recent development, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has overturned the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/ecp-disqualifies-mna-adil-bazai-for-violating-party-policy\/\">Election Commission of Pakistan&#8217;s<\/a> (ECP) decision to disqualify Adil Bazai, a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from NA-262 Quetta-I.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, who occupied the chair of the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/constitutional-bench-bins-plea-challenging-army-chiefs-tenure-extension\/\">SC bench<\/a>, restored Adil Bazai as the member of the National Assembly, therefore making it rather easy for him in a big way.<\/p>\n<p>Adil Bazai was an independent candidate who joined<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/sunni-ittehad-not-allotted-reserved-seats-in-punjab-sindh-assemblies-so-far\/\"> Sunni Ittehad Council<\/a> (SIC) after his election. But the ECP disqualified him, claiming attendance during floor crossing, by assembly because a few days after participating in the submission of an affidavit to join PML-N, he switched over to SIC.<\/p>\n<p>Bazai&#8217;s lawyer argued before the court that his membership with PML-N was unchanged; however, the PML-N counsel contended that Bazai&#8217;s was in total violation of Constitutional provisions.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that the SC overruled the ECP is a big deal, as that reinstates Bazai as a member of the National Assembly, most likely contributing significantly to the political angles with respect to floor-crossing and allegiance to a united front.<\/p>\n<p>This was shown on the website of the National Assembly when Bazai reportedly joined the PML-N, and he denied this on social media several times.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: In a recent development, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has overturned the Election Commission of Pakistan&#8217;s (ECP) decision to disqualify Adil Bazai, a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from NA-262 Quetta-I.
