{"id":59719,"date":"2024-12-19T20:06:21","date_gmt":"2024-12-19T15:06:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=59719"},"modified":"2024-12-19T20:10:11","modified_gmt":"2024-12-19T15:10:11","slug":"bus-accidents-in-central-afghanistan-leave-52-dead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/world\/bus-accidents-in-central-afghanistan-leave-52-dead\/","title":{"rendered":"Bus accidents in central Afghanistan leave 52 dead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KABUL: Two bus <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/four-pakistanis-died-in-boat-accidents-in-greece-foreign-office\/\">accidents<\/a> in central <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/sports\/pakistan-u19-defeats-afghanistan-by-13-runs-in-4th-odi\/\">Afghanistan<\/a> have killed 52 people and injured 65, here on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The incidents occurred late Wednesday night on a highway connecting Kabul to Kandahar in Ghazni province, as confirmed by Taliban government officials.<\/p>\n<p>According to Hamidullah Nisar, the provincial head of information and culture, one bus collided with a fuel tanker near Shahbaz village, while the other bus collided with a truck in Andar district.<\/p>\n<p>Chief government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid expressed deep sorrow over the deaths and injuries, stressing the tragedy of the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene to assist the injured, many of whom are said to be in critical condition.<\/p>\n<p>Traffic accidents are unfortunately common in Afghanistan, due to poor roads, reckless driving, and a lack of regulatory oversight.<\/p>\n<p>The incident echoes previous tragedies, such as a March clash in Helmand province that claimed more than 20 lives and another serious accident in December 2022 in which 31 people died when a fuel tanker overturned in the Salang Pass.<\/p>\n<p>The recurring nature of such accidents highlights the urgent need for improved road safety measures in the region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KABUL: Two bus accidents in central Afghanistan have killed 52 people and injured 65, here on Thursday.
