LAHORE: The Punjab police have chalked out an extensive security plan for the Christmas<\/a> and Quaid-e-Azam Day celebrations with the deployment of over 30,000 police personnel across the province.<\/p>\n

Huge deployment of security personnel is made to provide complete security<\/a> to the citizens, especially during the festive season. More than 5,000 police personnel will be deputed in Lahore to provide security to the churches and ensure the safety of the worshippers.<\/p>\n

In addition, more than 1,000 police personnel will be deployed for security during the events regarding Quaid-e-Azam Day, one of the major national holidays<\/a> in Pakistan.<\/p>\n

The IG Punjab has ordered that extra forces to be deployed at the sensitive churches, and the police must be fully alert to observe any suspected activity, especially regarding anti-state elements.<\/p>\n

Besides that, liaison officers have been instructed to consult church administrations so that smooth security arrangements would not only be maintained but a sense of cooperation and harmonious relationship between the police and community would also prevail.<\/p>\n

The IG Punjab has also appealed to the religious scholars of all sects for creating harmony among the people on interfaith grounds, maintaining congenial atmosphere and holding the events peacefully and unitedly.<\/p>\n

Public Holiday announced<\/h2>\n

December 25 will be observed as birth anniversary of Mohammad Ali Jinnah besides Christmas celebrations. Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was born on 25 December 1876, and each year this birthday of his is celebrated by Pakistan as a holiday of the state; it is also called Quaid-e-Azam Day or Yom-e-Quaid.<\/p>\n

Various programs are arranged every year in different cities of the country to give recognition to his dream, leadership, and the unique struggle he carried out for attaining Pakistan.<\/p>\n

A circular issued from the cabinet division regarding this has marked December 25 as a public holiday and hence banks in Pakistan will remain closed on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
