KARACHI: The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) has successfully rescued nine crew members of an Indian cargo ship<\/a> \u2014 Tajdare Haram \u2014 \u00a0stranded in adverse conditions at about 120 nautical miles south of Karachi.<\/p>\n

The PMSA spokesperson said that the agency conducted a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation to save the crew members who abandoned their vessel after water entered into it.<\/p>\n

“The vessel reported water ingress at around 11:00 AM on December 26, prompting the crew to abandon the vessel and take refuge in a life raft,” the PMSA said.<\/p>\n

As the incident happened, the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Mumbai alerted the PMSA, leading to the immediate launch of a coordinated rescue mission.<\/p>\n

The PMSA dispatched an aircraft, successfully locating the survivors, and directed nearby merchant vessels and PMSA ships to reach the scene of the incident. The PMSA aircraft facilitated the Indian Coast Guard vessel operating in nearby Indian waters for subsequent recovery.<\/p>\n

In a similar incident on December 4, the PMSA rescued 12 Indian crew members from the MSV Pirani Pir in a similar operation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

In response, the Pakistan Maritime Agency initiated a coordinated rescue operation involving multiple assets and agencies to the successful rescue of all 12 survivors.<\/p>\n

“The vessel was reported to have sunk in the exclusive economic zone of Pakistan, with its 12 crew members stranded on a life raft in distress,” it stated.<\/p>\n

“The PMSA remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring maritime safety and upholding international obligations under the SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) Convention.
