KARACHI: The city of Karachi is\u00a0<\/span>preparing<\/span>\u00a0itself for more chaos as the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat<\/a> (ASWJ) has announced plans to hold multiple sit-ins at 60 different locations across the city<\/span>\u00a0starting from Tuesday afternoon. <\/span><\/p>\n

This move\u00a0<\/span>will<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>add to the woes of Karachiites<\/span>\u00a0who are already struggling to cope with the ongoing protests and sit-ins by the Majlis-e-Wahdatul-Muslimeen<\/a> (MWM) over the Kurram issue. <\/span><\/p>\n

The MWM has been holding protests at 10 different spots in Karachi, causing severe traffic congestion and disrupting the daily lives of residents. <\/span><\/p>\n

The ASWJ leaders have given the Sindh government a 24-hour ultimatum to meet their demands, threatening to start sit-ins at various locations, including Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, and Sharah e Faisal, if their demands are not met.<\/p>\n

The situation in Karachi has been deteriorating over the past week, with the MWM protests causing road closures and frustration among residents. The provincial authorities have issued a warning to the protesters, with Karachi Additional Inspector General (AIG) Javed Alam Odho stating that the ongoing protest will be cleared before Maghrib today. <\/span><\/p>\n

However, this statement was later retracted by a spokesperson, who clarified that the Karachi Police Chief did not issue any direct orders to end the protests. The AIG had warned that those refusing to disperse would be removed per the law, and expressed appreciation for the patience shown by the police. Despite this, the situation remains volatile, and the people of Karachi are bracing themselves for more disruptions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Locations for Protest<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n

The ASWJ has <\/span>declared<\/span>\u00a0that it will\u00a0<\/span>begin<\/span>\u00a0sit-ins from Tuesday afternoon, and has\u00a0<\/span>also\u00a0<\/span>identified\u00a0<\/span>various<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>places<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in<\/span>\u00a0the city where\u00a0<\/span>sit-ins will\u00a0<\/span>be<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>conducted<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n

These\u00a0<\/span>places<\/span>\u00a0include Hydari Market, Sakhi Hasan Mobile Market, Nagan Chowrangi,\u00a0<\/span>Lasbela Chowk, and others. This would, therefore<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>lead<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0<\/span>more<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>disruptions\u00a0<\/span>in<\/span>\u00a0traffic and\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>general\u00a0<\/span>life\u00a0<\/span>of<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Karachiites.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>residents\u00a0<\/span>of Karachi\u00a0<\/span>are advised to\u00a0<\/span>prepare<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>for<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>alternative\u00a0<\/span>routes and\u00a0<\/span>other related\u00a0<\/span>activities\u00a0<\/span>in case the sit-ins take place<\/span>.
