KARACHI: According to the recent updates, the Paki\u00adstan Meteorological Depart\u00adment <\/a>(PMD) has issued a warning of an severe cold weather to hit port city from January 04,2025.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued by PMD<\/a>, explained that\u00a0<\/span>though<\/span>\u00a0the cold weather may\u00a0<\/span>experience<\/span>\u00a0a slight\u00a0<\/span>dip<\/span>\u00a0today and tomorrow (Friday), the situation\u00a0<\/span>may<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>change\u00a0<\/span>with<\/span>\u00a0westerly winds\u00a0<\/span>entering<\/span>\u00a0the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The<\/span>\u00a0winds<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>may\u00a0<\/span>cause<\/span>\u00a0rain\u00a0<\/span>in<\/span>\u00a0Balochistan<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>will eventually\u00a0<\/span>cause<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>cold winds\u00a0<\/span>to<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>reach\u00a0<\/span>Karachi,\u00a0<\/span>said\u00a0<\/span>the Met Office<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, Karachi will likely experience mainly dry weather<\/a>, with temperatures ranging from 25\u00b0C to 12\u00b0C. However, the city will witness a significant drop in temperatures as winter is scattering its roots in Pakistan. The humidity in the city varies up to 27% and the air is moving in the northwest direction at the speed of\u00a0 05 km\/h.<\/p>\n

The weather update\u00a0<\/span>came<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>at<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>a<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>time<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>when<\/span>\u00a0Karachi<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>was still being threatened by unhealthy\u00a0<\/span>air quality, which degraded continually<\/span>. On\u00a0<\/span>31\u00a0<\/span>December\u00a0<\/span>2024, the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI)\u00a0<\/span>spiked<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>to\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0<\/span>very<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>unhealthy<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>237,\u00a0<\/span>according<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>to<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the Swiss air quality monitor<\/span>,<\/span> IQ Air.<\/span><\/p>\n

It<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>reported a\u00a0<\/span>concentration of toxic PM2.5 pollutants, which\u00a0<\/span>could<\/span>\u00a0penetrate the bloodstream and cause\u00a0<\/span>grave<\/span>\u00a0health issues<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>concentration<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>reported<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>was\u00a0<\/span>162 \u00b5g\/m<\/span>\u00b3,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>that<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>is<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>32.4 times higher than\u00a0<\/span>what\u00a0<\/span>the World Health Organization<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>recommends<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
