{"id":61145,"date":"2025-01-02T13:20:09","date_gmt":"2025-01-02T08:20:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=61145"},"modified":"2025-01-02T13:20:09","modified_gmt":"2025-01-02T08:20:09","slug":"19-convicts-in-may-9-riots-granted-pardon-ispr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/19-convicts-in-may-9-riots-granted-pardon-ispr\/","title":{"rendered":"19 convicts in May 9 riots granted pardon: ISPR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>RAWALPINDI: The military courts have pardoned 19 convicts on <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/military-courts-hand-60-more-civilians-sentence-in-may-9-cases\/\">humanitarian grounds<\/a> after they appealed for mercy in the May 9 sentences, the military&#8217;s media wing said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a total of 67 convicts have given their mercy petitions, of which 48 petitions have been processed to Courts of Appeal, in accordance with the law.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sequel to the promulgation of punishments to 9th May Tragedy convicts, they have exercised their right to appeal and have asked for mercy\/remission in their punishments,&#8221; the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>The ISPR confirmed that the remaining mercy petitions will be decided in due course of time, following the legal process.<\/p>\n<p>The 19 convicts, whose mercy appeal has been accepted, shall be released after the completion of procedural formalities, the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from that, the military issued the release of 20 convicts carried out on humanitarian grounds..<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All those convicted retain the right of appeal and other legal remedies as per the law and the constitution,&#8221; the statement read.<\/p>\n<h2>Pardoned convicts<\/h2>\n<div>1.
