{"id":61267,"date":"2025-01-03T14:43:33","date_gmt":"2025-01-03T09:43:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=61267"},"modified":"2025-01-03T14:48:49","modified_gmt":"2025-01-03T09:48:49","slug":"federal-govt-halts-working-of-two-international-ngos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/federal-govt-halts-working-of-two-international-ngos\/","title":{"rendered":"Federal govt halts working of Tobacco-Free Kids, another int&#8217;l NGO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has taken strict action against two international <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/psca-launches-virtual-blood-bank-facility\/\">non-governmental organizations<\/a> (NGOs) over several violations.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Interior has ordered the suspension of activities of two NGOs \u2014 Tobacco-Free Kids and Vital Strategies \u2014 across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The Interior Ministry has decided to close both NGOs and has written a letter to the Home Department of all provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan in this regard.<\/p>\n<p>The letter, signed by the Deputy Secretary (IC &amp; FATF), has also instructed the Chief Minister Islamabad to halt the activities of the aforementioned NGOs in the federal capital jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry has also written to the State Bank of Pakistan, instructing it to freeze the bank accounts of Tobacco-Free Kids and Vital Strategies.<\/p>\n<p>As per the letter, a copy of which is available with <em>Daily Ausaf<\/em>, both organisations were operating in the country without permission and any valid registration of the Interior Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>Both entities were also not registered with the Economic Affairs Division and Securities &amp; Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the letter read.<\/p>\n<p>The letter further confirmed that the action may be taken as per the rules and policies under intimation of the Interior Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>Sources said<em>\u00a0<\/em>that both NGOs were working for years in the country with the Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has taken strict action against two international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) over several violations.
