{"id":61534,"date":"2025-01-06T13:30:26","date_gmt":"2025-01-06T08:30:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=61534"},"modified":"2025-01-06T13:30:26","modified_gmt":"2025-01-06T08:30:26","slug":"tobacco-free-kids-indus-hospitals-alleged-involvement-in-money-laundering-exposed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/tobacco-free-kids-indus-hospitals-alleged-involvement-in-money-laundering-exposed\/","title":{"rendered":"Tobacco-Free Kids, Indus Hospital&#8217;s alleged involvement in money laundering exposed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Taking action on the recommendation from the Interior Ministry, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has frozen the accounts of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/federal-govt-halts-working-of-two-international-ngos\/\">Tobacco-Free Kids<\/a> and Vital Strategies for working illegally in Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>However, <em>Daily Ausaf<\/em> has learned that the central bank has not yet taken any action against those local organisations being funded by these banned INGOs.<\/p>\n<p>Tobacco-Free Kids and Vital Strategies have funded several local-based NGOs including, Indus Hospital &amp; Health Network (IHHN), Chromatic Trust, Human Development Foundation, Aurat Foundation, and Health Services Academy.<\/p>\n<p>Sources said that the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and Indus Hospital allegedly collaborated in money laundering with the involvement of Karachi-based firm, <em>Wasabai<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The funds were being transferred to a company, which was not registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). The <em>Wasabi&#8217;s<\/em> website was also found to be fake.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, <em>ABN News\u00a0<\/em>reported alleged links of said INGOs with\u00a0India. The Vital Strategies, which was banned in Pakistan for several operational violations, was founded in New Delhi, the capital of India.<\/p>\n<p>The chairperson of the Board of Directors of Vital Strategies is Bruce Mandell, a billionaire belonging to a Jewish family.<\/p>\n<p>Bruce\u00a0joined the board in 2008 and began his term as board chair in 2023.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Taking action on the recommendation from the Interior Ministry, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has frozen the accounts of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) Tobacco-Free Kids and Vital Strategies for working illegally in Pakistan.
