MULTAN: In a bizarre incident, a father brutally slaughters his two polio struck children <\/a>with a sharp knife before attempting to take his own life.<\/p>\n

The sad incident took place in Loni settlement near Adda Shahnal on Multan Road in Lodhran. Where the father identified as Ismail claimed life of his 23-year-old daughter, Musarrat, and his 25-year-old son, Khalid, who is <\/span>still<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>fighting for his life<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to police, Ismail was at home with his children while the rest of the family attended a condolence gathering for a deceased relative. In a shocking turn of events, Ismail used a sharp knife<\/a> to slit the throats of his children, leaving Musarrat dead on the spot and Khalid severely injured.<\/p>\n

After attacking his children, Ismail turned the knife on himself, inflicting critical injuries<\/a>. Both Ismail and Khalid were rushed to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Lodhran, where they received emergency treatment. <\/span><\/p>\n

Due to the severity of their injuries, they were placed on ventilators before being transferred to Victoria Hospital in Bahawalpur for specialized care.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ismail\u00a0<\/span>did<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>not<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>survive<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>at Victoria Hospital<\/span>;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the death toll\u00a0<\/span>is<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>now at two. Doctors are still battling to save Khalid’s life, as his condition<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>is<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>described<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>as critical<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the family’s statement, Ismail had been suffering from mental illness for the last few months and was not i<\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>family was already in a state of shock after the\u00a0<\/span>death of a nephew earlier that day<\/span>, which may have further weakened Ismail’s <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>already\u00a0<\/span>fragile mental state, leading him to commit the heinous act. <\/span><\/p>\n

Deputy Commissioner Dr Lubna Nazir has directed hospital authorities to ensure that Khalid receives the best possible medical care.<\/span><\/p>\n

Musarrat’s funeral prayers were held at the family’s ancestral home, where relatives and neighbors gathered to mourn the tragedy. She was\u00a0<\/span>buried<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>later<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>same<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>day.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Saddar Police have\u00a0<\/span>filed<\/span>\u00a0a case\u00a0<\/span>with<\/span>\u00a0Sections 302 and 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code\u00a0<\/span>under<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>complaint filed by Muhammad Sabir,\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0relative of the victims.\u00a0<\/span>He<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>said<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the family had\u00a0<\/span>gone<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>into<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>shock<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>recently<\/span>, and\u00a0<\/span>that the fragile state of Ismail’s mind\u00a0 r<\/span>esulted<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>committing<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>of<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>unfortunate<\/span>\u00a0act. <\/span><\/p>\n

The incident has\u00a0<\/span>shocked<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the community, and an investigation is\u00a0<\/span>being<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>carried out\u00a0<\/span>to\u00a0<\/span>understand<\/span>\u00a0the circumstances\u00a0<\/span>of<\/span>\u00a0the tragedy.
