{"id":61549,"date":"2025-01-06T16:33:49","date_gmt":"2025-01-06T11:33:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=61549"},"modified":"2025-01-06T16:33:49","modified_gmt":"2025-01-06T11:33:49","slug":"na-body-recommended-to-implement-dual-nationalities-law-on-bureaucrats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/na-body-recommended-to-implement-dual-nationalities-law-on-bureaucrats\/","title":{"rendered":"NA body recommended to implement dual nationalities law on bureaucrats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior member, Qadir Patel, has recommended the committee to implement <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/national-assembly-approves-national-forensic-agency-bill-2024-following-senates-approval\/\">dual citizenship<\/a> law on bureaucrats.<\/p>\n<p>While considering the <em>Pakistan Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2024,<\/em> during the meeting, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawmakers questioned the appointment of bureaucrats having dual citizenship.<\/p>\n<p>Patel told the committee that 22,000 bureaucrats are dual citizens.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Members of the National Assembly (MNA) and judges cannot have dual citizenship because they have secrets,&#8221; Qadir Patel<\/p>\n<p>He remarked that bureaucrats have more secrets than politicians but still, we [politicians] have the limitations of being dual citizens.<\/p>\n<p>The amendment bill, 2024 proposed changes in section 14A of the <em>Pakistan Citizenship Act, 1951.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The bill draft proposed the addition of new sub-sections in the act.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Subject to notification on by the Federal government in the official Gazette under sub-section (3) of section 14, any person who has renounced citizenship of Pakistan under sub-section (1). may resume citizenship in Pakistan by making a declaration in the prescribed manner and upon making of such<br \/>\ndeclaration he may thereupon become a citizen of Pakistan,&#8221; the draft read.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior member, Qadir Patel, has recommended the committee to implement dual citizenship law on bureaucrats.
