{"id":62188,"date":"2025-01-12T11:46:43","date_gmt":"2025-01-12T06:46:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=62188"},"modified":"2025-01-12T11:46:43","modified_gmt":"2025-01-12T06:46:43","slug":"china-discovers-huge-uranium-deposit-in-ordos-basin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/world\/china-discovers-huge-uranium-deposit-in-ordos-basin\/","title":{"rendered":"China discovers huge uranium deposit in Ordos Basin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BEIJING: China has discovered a substantial <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/private-aviation-company-launches-air-ambulance-services-for-parachinar\/\">uranium deposit<\/a> in the Jingchuan area of the Ordos Basin in the northwestern region of the country, the China Geological Survey under the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/featured\/belarusian-president-lukashenko-reaches-in-pakistan-on-three-day-official-visit\/\">Ministry of Natural Resources<\/a> announced in a press release sent to the Global Times.<\/p>\n<p>The discovery will significantly increase the country\u2019s uranium resources and effectively enhance the security of uranium resources in the country, according to the press release.<\/p>\n<p>The discovery represents the first ultra-large uranium deposit found in a region dominated by aeolian sandstone in the world. Such landforms are also prevalent in other petroliferous areas in China, such as the Tarim, Junggar, and Songliao basins.<\/p>\n<p>It is also a major step forward in the exploration of new types of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/four-bodies-retrieved-search-continues-for-eight-others-trapped-in-quetta-mine-collapse\/\">uranium mines<\/a> since the implementation of the country\u2019s new round of strategic actions for mineral exploration breakthroughs, the China Geological Survey said.<\/p>\n<p>The China Geological Survey, in collaboration with provincial, regional, and municipal geological exploration departments and mining enterprises, is also exploring new lithium mines nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>It announced on Wednesday that China\u2019s progress in lithium exploration has boosted its global share of lithium reserves from 6 to 16.5 percent, raising its ranking from sixth to second. This has reshaped the distribution of lithium resources worldwide, laying a solid foundation for the rapid development of China\u2019s new energy industry.<\/p>\n<p>Significant recent discoveries include a 2,800-kilometer lithium belt in West Kunlun-Songpan-Ganzi in the country\u2019s western area.
