RAWALPINDI: In a groundbreaking move, The Pakistan Tehkreek-e-Insaaf ‘s<\/a> (PTI) negotiating committee has received permission from the government to meet the party founder Imran Khan in Adiala Jail at 2:00 PM today.<\/p>\n

Sources disclosed that the request was made last night when the government reached out to PTI leaders regarding the meeting, which would be attended by a seven-member committee.<\/p>\n

The negotiations between the said committee and the government will focus on the third round of discussions involving Imran Khan, who is central to the party negotiations<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, Speaker National Assembly<\/a> Ayaz Sadiq has made it clear that it is not his responsibility to facilitate meetings between the PTI’s negotiating committee and Imran Khan.<\/p>\n

He said that it should be the responsibility of the government along with its allies to see whether such a meeting can take place or not. He earlier notified Asad Qaiser about PTI’s request to meet Imran Khan in jail, and he is ready to call for the negotiating committees within a stretch of one to two days.<\/p>\n

Earlier while replying to the ongoing criticism by PTI leaders, Sadiq mentioned that he has a role to play in fostering dialogue between the government and the opposition; he cannot facilitate meetings for Imran Khan.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that Khan has been at the center of Pakistani politics for quite some time and that the PTI has dominated the political landscape in the country.<\/p>\n

As founder of the PTI, Khan has proven to be a harsh critic of government corruption and has advocated fiercely for a reform agenda in the country.<\/p>\n

His imprisonment has sparked controversy and protests, with many of his supporters demanding he be released.
