{"id":63758,"date":"2025-01-27T14:16:02","date_gmt":"2025-01-27T09:16:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=63758"},"modified":"2025-01-27T14:16:02","modified_gmt":"2025-01-27T09:16:02","slug":"govt-plans-to-revise-rooftop-solar-buyback-tariff-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/business\/govt-plans-to-revise-rooftop-solar-buyback-tariff-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Govt plans to revise rooftop solar buyback tariff policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The federal government is planning to revise the buyback tariff of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/islamabad\/100-islamabad-schools-shifted-to-solar-power\/\">rooftop solar consumers<\/a> after the existing system has reportedly imposed a Rs103 billion burden on consumers using grid electricity.<\/p>\n<p>Under the revised policy, the current net-metering will be replaced with a gross-metering mechanism.<\/p>\n<p>The national grid will purchase electricity from rooftop solar consumers at Rs8-9 per unit, a significant reduction from the current Rs21 per unit.<\/p>\n<p>This will extend the payback period for rooftop solar investments from the current 18-24 months to approximately 4-5 years.<\/p>\n<p>In the existing net-metering system, solar users sell excess electricity to the grid at Rs21 per unit and repurchase at Rs42 per unit during non-generative periods, such as nighttime.
