KARACHI: Sindh’s provincial sports minister, Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar, has sparked controversy ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy<\/a> by threatening to establish a separate cricket board for Sindh.<\/p>\n

Mahar voiced his disappointment with the way Sindh cricket players<\/a> are now treated during the start of the provincial youth conference hosted by the Sindh government.<\/p>\n

He said that they were not receiving the credit and opportunities they deserved on the national squad. He emphasized that cricket is a sport with long roots in Sindh and is not just for Punjab or Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.<\/p>\n

The Pakistan Cricket Board<\/a> (PCB) recently\u00a0<\/span>announced<\/span>\u00a0the squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 and tri-nation series, featuring Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa. Fakhar Zaman is\u00a0<\/span>returning<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>to the\u00a0<\/span>side<\/span> and the tournament <\/span>will<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>start<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>on February 19 and\u00a0<\/span>continue<\/span>\u00a0until March 9.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Some<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>of<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>players<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>were<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>also<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>shifted;<\/span>\u00a0four new\u00a0<\/span>inclusions<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>are<\/span>\u00a0Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Khushdil Shah, and Saud Shakeel\u00a0<\/span>have<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>replaced<\/span>\u00a0Abdullah Shafique, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Saim Ayub, and Sufyan Moqim. Mohammad Rizwan will\u00a0<\/span>lead<\/span>\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span>side<\/span>\u00a0with Salman Ali Agha as\u00a0<\/span>his deputy<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>side<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>consists<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>three\u00a0<\/span>players<\/span>\u00a0from the 2017 Champions Trophy-winning team: Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, and Fakhar Zaman. <\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>complete<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>list<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>players is\u00a0<\/span>Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Kamran Ghulam, Saud Shakeel, Tayyab Tahir, Faheem Ashraf, Khushdil Shah, Salman Ali Agha, Usman Khan, Abrar Ahmed, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Hasnain, Naseem Shah, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
