{"id":64527,"date":"2025-02-04T12:20:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-04T07:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/?p=64527"},"modified":"2025-02-04T12:20:00","modified_gmt":"2025-02-04T07:20:00","slug":"pakistan-railways-hikes-train-fare-amid-rising-fuel-prices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pakistan-railways-hikes-train-fare-amid-rising-fuel-prices\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan Railways hikes train fare amid rising fuel prices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has announced a 5 pc increase in <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyausaf.com\/en\/pakistan\/pakistan-railways-launches-new-ticket-refund-policy\/\">passenger fares<\/a> due to the rising cost of petroleum products.<\/p>\n<p>The notification issued by Pakistan Railways stated that the revised fares will be applicable from February 5, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The 5% increase will apply to tickets for all train classes, including salon services and outsourced trains.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the department said that the decision to jack up the train fare came after the recent surge in fuel prices.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Monday, the department also announced a new ticket refund policy, which will also apply to tickets purchased through the \u201cRabta\u201d app.<\/p>\n<p>The policy, outlined in a railway notification, details different scenarios under which passengers can claim a refund for their tickets, depending on when they cancel.<\/p>\n<p>According to the new policy, tickets purchased at railway counters (point of sale, or POS) will allow passengers to recover up to 90% of the ticket price if they cancel their journey at least 48 hours before the scheduled departure.<\/p>\n<p>If cancellation is made between 24 and 48 hours before departure, passengers will get an 80% refund, and those who cancel within 24 hours will get 70%.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has announced a 5 pc increase in passenger fares due to the rising cost of petroleum products.
