KURRAM: The death toll in the attack on Parachinar<\/a> and a convoy of security forces in Lower Kurram has risen to nine.<\/p>\n

The dead include five security personnel, a truck driver, a passerby and two attackers.<\/p>\n

More than 20 people, including five security personnel and five drivers, were injured in the attack.<\/p>\n

According to official sources and the district administration, the attack took place in the areas of Mandori, Ochhat Charakhel and Bagan, targeting a convoy of trucks carrying goods to Parachinar.<\/p>\n

A truck driver and security personnel lost their lives on the spot.<\/p>\n

In response, security forces launched aerial shelling using helicopters.<\/p>\n

During the retaliatory action, the vehicle of the commandant of Kurram militia, Colonel Haider, was also attacked with heavy and automatic weapons, damaging three vehicles.<\/p>\n

However, Colonel Haider remained unharmed.<\/p>\n

Four additional security personnel lost their lives, while a captain and four other personnel were injured.<\/p>\n

The confirmed casualties by the security forces include Lance Naik Qabil Khan, Lance Naik Abdul Rehman, Lance Naik Yasin, Sepoy Saqlain and Sepoy Danish.<\/p>\n

The injured personnel include Havaldar Azeem, Naik Tauseef, Naik Niaz Muhammad and Lance Naik Haroon.<\/p>\n

Apart from the security forces, the attack also claimed the lives of a truck driver, a passerby and two attackers.<\/p>\n

Moreover, over 20 people, including five security personnel and five drivers, were injured.<\/p>\n

According to police sources, the attackers set fire to the vehicles after looting goods from 19 trucks, with a total of 35 trucks reportedly looted.<\/p>\n

Kurram Traders Association leaders Syed Iftikhar Hussain and Syed Muhammad Hanif revealed that goods worth Rs1.2 billion were loaded on a large trailer in the attack.<\/p>\n

Kurram Member of National Assembly Engineer Hamid Hussain expressed disappointment over the repeated violations of the peace accords and criticized the government\u2019s silence.<\/p>\n

They demanded immediate action against the culprits and reopening of blocked routes to ensure public safety.<\/p>\n

They also linked the recent Libyan boat tragedy, which claimed the lives of several youths from Parachinar to the prolonged instability in the region, which has forced many people to seek dangerous migration routes.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Member Provincial Assembly Ali Hadi Irfani urged the government and relevant institutions to provide immediate relief to the affected traders and ensure the supply of other essential items, including food items and medical aid, in the area.<\/p>\n

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Advisor Barrister Saif condemned the attack on security personnel during the rescue operation.<\/p>\n

He assured that peace would not be compromised and paid tribute to the martyred personnel, saying that their sacrifices would not go in vain.<\/p>\n
