KARACHI: A three-member medical team exhumed the buried body, presumed to be that of slain 23-year-old BBA student Mustafa Amir<\/a>, from the Keamari graveyard on Friday and collected samples following the court directives.<\/p>\n

The three-member medical board comprising Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed, Additional Police Surgeon Dr Seri Chand, and Medico-Legal Officer (MLO) Dr Kamran Khan executed the process.<\/p>\n

The team led by Dr Summaiya oversaw the exhumation of the victim’s body under the supervision of a judicial magistrate.<\/p>\n

The head of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) Identification Project, Amir Hassan, and a heavy police contingent were present at the cemetery.<\/p>\n

The team collected the samples from mortal remains, presumed to be of the victim Mustafa Amir. Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said that eleven samples have been collected for DNA testing.<\/p>\n

Sources revealed that samples will be sent to the forensic laboratory at Karachi University and results are expected to be available in 3 to 4 days.<\/p>\n

The DNA report is expected to be available within three to seven days and will be presented in the anti-terrorism court in Karachi.<\/p>\n

The victim’s body has been handed over to the Edhi Foundation and will remain in their morgue till the DNA report comes to the fore.<\/p>\n

According to the judicial magistrate’s letter addressed to the rescue organisation, if the DNA report comes back positive, the mortal remains will be handed over to the deceased’s family, otherwise, the body will be buried in the cemetery designated for abandoned, unclaimed bodies.<\/p>\n

As per details, the Edhi Foundation volunteers buried the body, which was found charred near the Hub checkpost on February 12, at Keamari graveyard on February 16.<\/p>\n

It was presumed to be the body of Mustafa Amir, who went missing on January 6 and was set on fire by accused Armaghan, who confessed the crime.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the accused, who is on a four-day physical remand, will be produced before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) No 3 tomorrow (Saturday) for remand in the relevant four cases.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
