ISLAMABAD:\u00a0Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday launched Ramadan Relief Package<\/a> for four million deserving families<\/a> worth Rs20 billion.<\/p>\n

Addressing the launching ceremony in Islamabad, the Prime Minister said that under this package a total of two crore people could get relief <\/span>which would be distributed in the first ten days of Ramadan.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As per details, each deserving family would get Rs 5000, which would be transferred through digital wallets. The relief package will cover all the four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, state-run APP<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n

He said there will be round-the-clock supervision and monitoring of the relief package, adding that this package will spare people from the hassle of standing in long queues outside the Utility Stores, as the cash will be transferred in digital wallets.<\/p>\n

“This year, an amount of Rs20 billion has been allocated for the purpose. The relief amount last year was Rs7 billion,” he added. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The prime minister also lauded all the relevant authorities and institutions including ministries, State Bank of Pakistan, NADRA, BISP and tech companies who worked day and night to devise a digital mechanism.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In his remarks on the occasion, Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain said a foolproof mechanism would ensure swift transfer of the amount to 4 million deserving families.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rana added that\u00a0stalls will be established at the tehsil level during Ramadan for provision of sugar at a subsidized price of Rs 130 kg<\/span>.<\/p>\n

He said Utility Stores will also provide essential commodities to the people on a 15 per cent discount.<\/p>\n

Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, in his remarks, said the programme was sanctioned in twenty days in which all the relevant authorities played a significant part, enabling them to launch the initiative in the holy month.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
