LAHORE: PTI leader Aleem Khan has been contacted by the senior leadership of PML-N ahead of the Opposition’s plan to table\u00a0the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan,\u00a0Geo News<\/i>\u00a0reported, citing sources.<\/p>\n
According to sources, Aleem Khan will also visit estranged PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen’s residence today to attend an important meeting of the group regarding the no-confidence motion.<\/p>\n
They revealed that the meeting will be held at Tareen\u2019s residence while the former PTI secretary-general will attend the huddle via video link from London.<\/p>\n
They said that the members will adopt a joint political strategy by gathering all the groups within PTI.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Aleem Khan is said to have made contacts with over 40 Punjab MPAs, including 10 ministers, in the last 30 days, the sources said.<\/p>\n
However, the names of these MPAs will be kept secret till the current political scenario becomes clear.<\/p>\n
Sources further added that during the meeting today, the members will review the strategy in case the no-confidence motion is presented in the Parliament.<\/p>\n
They will also review the Opposition’s efforts to convince other disgruntled members of the ruling party and their proposals and strategies regarding Punjab and the Centre.<\/p>\n
Tareen is currently in London for his medical treatment.<\/p>\n
In 2020, after revelations in a Sugar Inquiry Commission report, investigations had been launched against Tareen, with the ties between the PTI leader and PM Imran Khan turning sour.<\/p>\n
The following year, a separate group was formed by Tareen’s loyalists in the PTI, who have recently made contact with the Opposition as it seeks to oust the government.<\/p>\n
However, in an effort to placate the PTI leader, PM Imran Khan telephoned him to inquire after his health.<\/p>\n
The conversation between PM Imran Khan and Tareen came amid increasing activities of the Opposition \u2014 PPP holding an “Awami March” and the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) bid to move a no-confidence motion against the premier.<\/p>\n
